Lots Of Excitement on Small Car Saturday at DH2

After the nasty rain storm on Friday the track was ready for kart, micro and slingshot racing this past Saturday.
Seventy three race teams were all on hand hoping to take the checkered flag home with them.  With only two weeks
left of points racing, the battles are heating up.  The kart teams made their way on to the surface for the evenings
feature events, sponsored by Davis Trophies.

Rodney McConnell captured his fifth feature win as he closes in on the current points leader Bren Lattimer.  Both
of these drivers race hard and give the fans lots of excitement to watch.  Dale Anderson is hanging in third place in
the points race.  Bren Lattimer and Dale Anderson finished in second and third positions in the feature event.

Current points leader Doug Newbigging recorded his 7Th feature win.  Caleb Hadlock, Kaela Vanderpool, Conner
Davis and Jack Maby rounded out the top five.  Caleb Hadlock lead most of the feature event running a low line and
keeping Newbigging behind him.  A caution came out on lap 23 and on the restart Doug let Caleb know he was there
by tapping his rear bumper.  That allowed Doug to get by, but Caleb kept him close.  Caleb tried every move he knew
to get around the number 24. Caleb could not make the pass and Doug got the win.

The popular Sportskid division had Dom Rogers and Keith Lamphere in the front row taking the green.  Tamara
Fenstermacher made a quick move to take the lead.  She and Dom battled for the top spot.  Coming into the mix was
Keith Lamphere who got around the Rogers kart and took the lead away on lap four.  Keith tried to open up a lead,
but Tamara and Dom kept him in their sights.  They battled hard until DJ Knolles got around Dom.  Keith held off the
strong charge from Tamara and DJ to record his 12Th feature win.  Tamara Fenstermacher was second, DJ Knolles
was third, fourth went to Dom Rogers and rounding out the top five was Mackenzie Doyle.

Four teams were on hand to participate in the Animal feature event.  Seven time feature winner Zack Bruce
recorded another feature win.  He was followed across the line by Wayne Miller, Nick Bruce and current points leader
Bob Coveney.

Novice Blue division found John Schrader and Craig Smith bringing the field to the green.  With nine points
between the current points leader Cody Kershner and Seth Anderson in second, it was guaranted to be a close race.
That is just what it was as Cody and Seth made moves on the first lap.  Seth grabbed the lead with Cody trying the
inside and outside to get around the number 92.  On lap three they made contact and both of them were sent to the
rear.  That gave the lead to Craig Smith, who now had Mitch Maynard in hot pursuit.  Mitch had recorded his first
checkered flag of the season in the qualifying race.  He really wanted to continue on his winning way by picking up the
feature event.  Craig and Mitch battled hard until lap seven when Seth moved back into third.  Seth passed Mitch and
set his sights on the Smith number 15.  On lap 10 Seth made the pass for the lead.  Cody also was working his way
back through the pack and on lap 11 got the second position.  Both drivers were patience with the hopes of getting
the win.  When the checkered flag fell it was Seth Anderson capturing win number 5, with Cody in second.  Great run
for rookie driver Lacin Terry who recorded an impressive third, fourth was Craig Smith and fifth went to Mitch Maynard.

Stock Appearing Clone feature went to Logan Terry.  Logan raced against the Animals as there was only one
other competitor at the track.  Wayne Miller's kart broke during the qualifying event.  It was Logan's first feature win in
this division.

Sportsmen class made their way onto the track.  The action in this division has been exciting all year.  Current
points leader Doug Lantz has won every feature event, with the exception of one. Going into Saturday's race, Doug's
point lead was only 30 ahead of Rich Vanderpool who has had consistent finishes each week.  Newcomers Keith
Lamphere and Paul Corron are adding some excitement to the racing action.  Keith Lamphere who is Doug's nephew
was the only other feature winner to date.  While Paul has only competed in two feature events. Doug did pick up win
number 13 on Saturday.  Watch for all of the competitors chasing Doug, as they try to keep him out of victory lane
during the last two events.

The Flathead kart division was the last event of the evening.  Some newcomers came to visit as Kyle Stahl and
Josh Kerstetter tried out the quick track.  The front row found Rodney McConnell and Mark Abbott ready to race.  Carl
grabbed the early lead with Kyle Stahl in pursuit.  On lap four Stahl stole the lead away.  This event found many
cautions and when the checkered flag finally fell it was Mark Abbott capturing the win.  Second went to Bob Coveney,
third to Kyle Stahl, fourth to Shawn Bruce and rounding out the top five was Quinn Davis.

It was on to Micro and Slingshot racing.  The 600 Micro division keeps growing each week.  Eleven teams were
on hand to compete, but only ten started the feature.  Bobby Maynard suffered engine failure and was not able to
start the feature.  Kevin Hayle and Collin Hadlock brought the field to the green.  Unfortunately for Collin the feature
ended early after an altercation sent him to the pit area with a broken carbuerator.  Last weeks feature winner Derek
Frederick grabbed the early lead  holding off current points leader Nick Wood.  The event was red flagged after
Dustin Jochum took a wild ride coming off the back stretch.  Thankfully Dustin was not injured and drove his 7J to the
pit area.  Derek's number 31 suffered cosmetic damage that didn't help the handling of the car.  He held off the Wood
machine until lap eighteen when Nick made the move around him.  When the checkers flew it was Nick Wood picking
up win number three.  Rounding out the top five was Derek Frederick, Bennett Lennox, Adam Nicholson and Eric
Mclinko.

Rookie 270 found a new face in victory lane.  Alex Shaffer became the ninth different winner in this division.  He
was followed across the line by Jay Walp, Scott Dean, Allen Carnrike and John Walp.  Last weeks feature winner
Brent Heeman developed a mechanical problem ending his night.  Current points leader Kelsi Jenkins also suffered a
mechanical problem that sent her to the pits early in the event.

The 270 Micro feature event found Mark Wurzler capturing win number two.  Mark is the current points leader
with only a two point lead over second place Bobby Maynard.  It was not Bobby's night as he didn't finish the feature
after suffering a mechanical problem.  Following Mark across the finish line was Tim Aberant, Kyle Traver, Bobby
Maynard and David Perry.  Tough break for John Heeman when his brother broke the car during the Rookie 270
feature leaving John not able to start the regular 270 feature.

Slingshots made their way onto the track with team mates of Dalton Maynard and Alex Shaffer making up the
front row.  When the green flag fell it was Dalton Maynard grabbing the lead.  Once again he and Carl Bittenbender
put on a great show for the fans.  They raced side by side for many laps with Carl taking the lead on lap seven.  They
still kept racing hard with each one hoping the other would make a mistake.  In the closing laps, Bob Boughton got
around the Maynard machine, for second.  Carl Bittenbender recorded win number 13 as he also have won all but
one feature event.  Bob Boughton was second, third was Dalton Maynard who held on with a flat tire, fourth was Alex
Shaffer and in fifth was Alex Boughton.

With the racing winding out this weeks event will have a different appearance.  The karts and Micros will run a
regular show.  It will be twin 15 lap features for the Allstar Slingshots, with $200 to each winner.  Graphix by Billy will
be paying all entry fee for the Slingshot competitors in appreciation for the support.  So here is your chance to come
and try out the Dunn Hill 2 Speedway.  Gates open at 2pm and the kart racing starts immediately after hot laps that
start at 4pm.  It will be a great day of racing as those who are in the points chase will be ready to acquire those all
important points.  For more information about the track and admission prices visit our website at
