Belcher, Mente, Robinson, Sites and Wesneski Crowned
Champions At Dunn Hill 2 Speedway

The final points race of the year was sponsored by J. W. Maynard and Sons Truck Repair.  The fans got to see some exciting racing.  The 2012 Track Champions were crowned and the Boone Bonus was handed out to the three time champion in the IMCA Mods.

The IMCA Mods completed their third season at DH2, with Eddie Sites recording his third championship.  Promoter Mark Spencer gives away the "Boone Bonus", to the champion if they are attending the IMCA Nationals in Boone, Iowa.   Eddie McKernan captured his second feature win in a row with Eddie Sites finishing in second.  Sites is making the trip to Boone and accepted the $2000, bonus from Mr. Spencer.  The feature event found Eddie McKernan opening up a huge lead after Rich Howard Jr., lead the first three laps.  With only two cautions early in the event, McKernan ran a strong race to capture his win number two in a row.  Eddie Sites piloting his brother's Brad car finished in second, third was rookie Jake Maynard, fourth was Ray McClure and rounding out the top five was Harry Ely.

Newcomer Allan Crooker and Matt Vinson brought the field to the green flag in the Street Stock feature.  It appeared the Nick Robinson had the championship all wrapped, but with double points anything could happen.  Allan grabbed the early lead, but it was last weeks feature winner Jason Benjamin who stole it away on lap three.  Jason knew what he wanted to do and made his way back into victory lane.  He held off second in points Ricky Davis for the entire feature race.  Davis knew that he had to finish ahead of the Robinson machine or even win if he was to bring home the title.  Nick Robinson ran a patience and smart race finishing in third to record his very first championship at DH2.  Rounding out the top five were the 2011 champion Ernie Martin in fourth and fifth was Allan Crooker.

The Factory Stock points title went down to the final race.  Mike Mente and Stan Matthews were racing for the championship honors.  Mike Chilson and David Ackley made up the front row for the final feature of the season.  When the green flag dropped it was Ackley who grabbed the lead with the hopes of bringing home his first feature win.  As a rookie in this division David did an awesome job of holding his line and keeping the veteran Mike Chilson behind him.  Matthews and Mente were making their way to the front.  On lap six Mike moved into second place challenging David Ackley for the lead.  On lap eleven Mike moved into the lead, but that didn't stop Ackley from trying to steal it back.  With four laps to go Stan Matthews moved into second now challenging Mente for the top spot and the championship.  Both of these drivers have raced hard all season long, most of the laps side by side.  Mike, Stan and David gave the fans something to cheer about as the laps came to a close.  The checkered flag flew it was Mike Mente capturing the feature event and his first championship title.  The feature finish for the top five was Stan Matthews, David Ackley, Shannon Oswald, and Stu Morrison.

Mini Stocks would have an exciting battle for the championship.  Going into the evenings feature, Shane Brown was holding on to the lead by a just six points over Tyler Belcher.  Shane had not won a feature all season long, but his consistent finishes helped him to hold on to the points lead.  Tyler Belcher had won five features keeping him in the hunt for the title.  When the feature event made it way on to the track, Josh Benjamin and Vernon Flourney made up the front row.  Rich Powell grabbed the early lead with JR Bush right on his bumper.  Lady luck was not with the Powell machine as he lost the lead when a mechanical problem sent him pit side.  JR Bush now had control of the feature.  He was challenged by Tyler Belcher for most of the feature event, with Doug Colton also in the mix.  Bush kept his competitors behind him and went on to capture win number four.  By virtue of his second place finish moved past Shane Brown to record his first
Mini Stock Championship.  Rounding out the top five were Doug Colton, Mike Koser and Shane Brown.

The final feature event of the 2012 season, was the Front Wheel Drive division.  Bringing the field to the green were the ladies of this division.  Karlie McKernan and Donna Belcher made
up the front row.  Donna grabbed the early lead with the hopes of picking up her first feature win.  She battled with Karlie for the first couple of laps.  Mike Ely moved into second with Nick Wesneski right on his bumper.  Mike passed Donna for the lead on lap five, and Nick moved into second a couple of laps later.  The race was red flagged as Karlie McKernan in the 44B flipped on the front stretch.  She was shaken up, but emerged from the car on her own.  Her dad drove the car back to the pit area while she rode in the ambulance pit side to be checked out.  When the race resumed, Nick Wesneski passed Mike Ely for the lead.  Nick held off the strong charge from the Ely machine to capture not only the feature event, but the 2012 Track Championship as well.  Rounding out the top five in the feature were Josh Bailey, Devon Bailey and Trevor Williams.
